In the spring of 2019, I took a purposeful pivot in my career: I left Nike to take my first sabbatical after 20 years of working. I kicked it off with a bucket-list trip to New Zealand, followed by a 30-day road trip around the southwestern US in my 1987 VW Westfalia Vanagon. This creative pause allowed me to gain more mental, physical, and spiritual balance; get clear on my passions, and re-examine my identity in relation to a paycheck.
